Lesotho, often referred to as the “Kingdom in the Sky”, is a landlocked country in southern Africa, entirely surrounded by South Africa. The Drakensberg mountains, which run through the country, offer spectacular alpine scenery with verdant valleys and snow-capped peaks in winter. Lesotho is one of the few places in Africa where skiing is practiced.
The capital, Maseru, reflects a fusion of modernity and tradition, with its craft markets and friendly inhabitants. The people of Lesotho, known as Basotho, are famous for their traditional felt hats and colorful woollen blankets.
